Plastic surgery can change the lives of people who suffer from disorders caused by birth defects, accidents, cancer, and the degenerative changes associated with aging.
Through plastic surgery, most of these defects can be corrected, restoring a more normal appearance. At the office of Robert F. Bialas, M.D., we perform a full range of surgical procedures designed to help patients achieve the desired physical effect.
Facial Skin Cancer There are several different types of skin cancer and each may look different. Skin cancer can appear as a sore that does not heal, an abnormal lump on the skin, or as a mole that is actively changing in appearance. Questionable or suspicious skin tumors should be biopsied and checked under the microscope.
When skin cancers occur on the body, especially the face, their growth and/or removal may cause significant disfigurement. In these cases, plastic surgery is often required to restore the best possible appearance.
Scar Revision Through plastic surgery, the appearance of scars can often be minimized to the point where they are barely noticeable. This can be achieved through careful suturing, alignment within skin creases, or by hiding them in the hairline. Although scarring from injuries or surgical procedures can never be completely avoided, many patients will find scar revision to be beneficial.
